Synopsis

Written by Robin Gerber, performed by EMMY-nominated and SAG-winning actress Sharon Lawrence, and directed by Michelle Joyner, The Shot is a gripping one-woman play about Katharine Graham, the pioneering publisher of The Washington Post. Before she became one of the most powerful figures in American journalism, Graham was a subservient wife hiding a terrible secret. What follows is a transformation forged after great family tragedy. In the course of publishing the Pentagon Papers and pursuing the Watergate investigation, Graham established herself as a symbol of courage and integrity. The Shot reveals the personal cost of speaking truth to power through the story of one woman who found her voice when it mattered most. One woman. One voice. One story that changes everything. This production is made possible in part by a gift from the Wyatt and Selwyn Families in Loving Memory of Paul Selwyn, Founding President.
